Coaltown of Balgonie is a historic village in south-central Fife in Scotland situated on a ridge between the Ore and Leven waters, 2 miles east of Glenrothes and 1 mile south of Markinch. The small idyllic village developed during the 18th century with industries including coal-mining and hand-loom weaving.
