Sitting plum in the middle of the verdant Trossachs, Callander is a small town whose population is multiplied during the summer months as tourists descend upon one of Scotland’s most unspoiled regions. Rob Roy country and the gateway to the Highlands, the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National park was the first of its kind in Scotland, and is home to a number of idyllic lochs and pristine forestry. The area’s popularity soared in the late 18th Century when Sir Walter Scott’s ‘Lady Of The Lake’ brought Lake Monteith to life in verse.
