Burford is a town in Oxfordshire, often referred to as the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’. Its High Street is overlooked by 17th and 18th century Cotswold stone buildings, and slopes down to a bridge crossing the River Windrush. The Tudor house, Tolsey Hall, is located on the corner of Sheep Street, a reminder of the importance the wool trade once had in the area. Burford has a selection of mostly small, independent shops, including numerous antique shops and art galleries. The town also has its own golf course, separated by the A361, with 9 holes on each side.
