Buckland Newton is a village in North Dorset. Situated between Sherborne to the north and the county town of Dorchester to the south, it lies in beautiful countryside under the scarp of the Dorset Downs. The village is situated at the head of the vale of Blackmoor and commands some fine and extensive woodland scenery. The church of the Holy Rood is a Gothic structure, with an embattled tower, five bells, and a short lead-covered spire. Buckland Newton is a timeless place which has known Roman and Saxon habitation.
