Buckingham used to be the county town of Buckinghamshire until the 16th century, when Aylesbury took over. This busy and very typically pretty market town in the vale of Aylesbury has mainly beautiful Georgian buildings, as the town had to be rebuilt after a disastrous fire in 1724. There are a huge variety of pubs here, such as The Woolpack with its riverside beer garden, the lively Kings Head and the quiet, relaxing Three Cups! There are an extensive range of restaurants too, serving cuisine from around the world! It has a variety of places in which to stay too – from splendid hotels to a Travelodge and B&Bs.
