Buckhurst Hill is a suburban town in the Epping Forest district of Essex. It forms part of the Greater London Urban Area and is roughly 11 miles from central London. With Loughton and Chigwell, it is said to form part of the wealthy ‘Essex golden triangle’. A mixture of shops and restaurants can be found on Queens Road in Buckhurst Hill. Nearby attractions are mostly to be found in Epping Forest and include Queen Elizabeth I’s Hunting Lodge on Ranger's Road. Queen Elizabeth was said to have been hunting in Epping Forest when she received news of the defeat of the Spanish Armada, and returned to the lodge to feast that evening.
