The pretty seaside resort of Bridlington in East Yorkshire may have declined as a destination for hordes of West Yorkshire factory workers, but for those who enjoy an old fashioned seaside holiday, albeit with some modern touches, it takes some beating. This is a place with a great deal of history behind it: archaeologists have found evidence of Stone Age man making axes here; the Bronze Age Dane’s Dyke, an earthwork fortification, can be found in Flamborough to the north; and the Romans were here too, seen in the Roman coastal road in the area.
