Situated in the northern part of the English county of Nottinghamshire, Blyth is just to the north west of Retford. It is very close to the point where the A1 becomes the A1(M), giving easy access to all parts of the country. The area was known to have been populated in Roman times, evidence of a Roman camp having been found nearby. Blyth boasts one of the oldest examples of Norman architecture in the country in its priory church of St. Mary and St. Martin. It was part of a Benedictine monastery founded in 1088.
