The market town of Biggleswade in Bedfordshire lies on the A1 between Letchworth and St Neots. The town has a population of just over 10,000, although this is rising due to new housing developments. It is situated on the River Ivel and provides easy access to London or to the North of England by road or rail. It is on the main rail link from Central London to the North (East Coast Main Line) and offers fast trains into London's Kings Cross station. Humankind has inhabited the Biggleswade region since at least 10,000BC, with arrowheads from that era having been found nearby.
