Betws-y-Coed lies in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park in the Conwy Valley where the Llugwy and Conwy Rivers meet and is the main tourist village in the area. It is situated on the Conwy Valley Railway line which runs from Llandudno to Blaenau Ffestiniog. It boasts a railway museum with miniature railway. There is a 14th century church, St Michaels which is one of the oldest in Wales. Of particular interest is the Waterloo Bride built in 1815 by Thomas Telford it bears the inscription “This arch was constructed in the same year as the Battle of Waterloo was fought†Betws-y-Coed is of particular interest with those who have a passion for outdoor pursuits walking, mountain biking, climbing are all well catered for in the area and the local shops offer a wide selection of goods to help appreciate the area.
