Nestling in the heart of Cheshire Beeston is probably most famous for its castle located high up on a sandstone outcrop some 400 feet high up overlooking the Cheshire Plains with views across the Wirral and Liverpool. Originally a hillside fort from the Bronze Age traces of this early use is still in evidence today. Work on the Castle wasnâ€™t until started until 1226 and for around 400 years it was used as a castle defending England. It was also rumored to house a vast treasure hidden within it by Richard II.
