Balsall Common as a village did not exist before the 20th century, around 200 years ago it was simply a collection of houses and cottages, back in the 19th century Kenilworth Road was a toll road and stagecoaches would thunder down the road between Stratford on Avon and Coleshill, Balsall was a staging post for the drovers from North Wales taking their stock to the markets in Southam, Banbury and London, The 1930’s some cohesion with this settlement of houses and cottages and after the 2nd World War the village grew expanding rapidly and today boasts a population of around 6,500.
