Armagh - Ireland's oldest city - is a place of huge historic interest, dating back to 4500 BC. It's here that St Patrick built his first stone church in 445 AD - on the hill where St Patrick's Church of Ireland Cathedral stands today. This is also the burial site of Brian Boru, High King Of Ireland, who died in 1014. Uniquely, Armagh's second cathedral is also named after St Patrick: the Roman Catholic building, with its towering twin spires, was constructed in 1840. Unsurprisingly, Armagh is the Christian capital of Ireland.
