Alveley is an interesting village near the Severn River, surrounded by pretty countryside in the county of Shropshire, home to over two thousand people. It's set betwixt Bridgnorth and Kidderminster and spans across time as far back as the Saxons. The Norman church of St Mary ensures an interesting interlude, or for those interested in all things historical take a look at the Butter Cross, which dates back to when the Black Death cursed it's way through the village in the 14th Century. If the thought of wandering around a Museum sounds tempting there's Bewdley Museum, or perhaps the Roman Brooch, mummified cat, or even the clockwork rickshaw will tempt the curious to visit the Worcestershire County Museum set within the servants quarters of Hartlebury Castle, or if the sparkle of glass is a favourite, it has to be Broadfield House Glass Museum where colourful beauties date back to the 17th Century.
