Alford is a beguiling town that rests at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds, bestowing the gift of fabulous views across the Fens and Salt Marshes. The Town was granted it’s Market Charter in 1283 by Edward 1 and continues to hold it’s Market every Tuesday and Friday. With many old buildings acknowledging past times like the Victorian and thatched houses, the most impressive is the Manor House built in 1611 with interesting exhibits, delightful gardens and tea rooms. Artists can choose between impressive Georgian Houses or perhaps the Oxley Windmill standing 57 feet high, with 5 sails still producing flour, or how about the 13th Century Church of St Wilfrid’s which would grace any page.
