Abergele is an old market town in North Wales lying just inland from the coastal town of Pensarn. Probably best known for the Castle that overlooks the town it is not as old as people think and it’s not a true castle. Built in 1819 by a wealthy local individual this mock castle stands in a very much dilapidated state today although there are again plans to try and restore it. The town can trace its beginnings back to around the 8th Century but it wasn’t until the 14th century that Abergele held its first cattle market.
