Yetholm is a historic village in the Borders region of Scotland situated a mile from the Border with England, approximately a quarter of a mile across the Bowmont Water from its twin village of Kirk Yetholm and 6 miles south-east of Kelso. The name Yetholm means ‘Gate Town’ and would have started as a settlement post 1500 due to the cross border wars between the Scottish and English troops. Yetholm is well-known as the home of the Yethom Gypsies who used the border to disappear when under threat.
