Wrea Green is a quiet and charming rural village located in the heart of the rural Fylde in Lancashire and boasts the largest village green in Lancashire. Back in 1683 a local worker was earning 4d per day (that’s about 3p in todays money) and when he died he left the sum of £180 to build a school for Wrea Green. Since then the school has been extended and today it stands as a testament to the generosity of a man who lived over 300 years ago. It wasn’t until 1755 that the Parish Church of St Nicholas was consecrated by the Bishop of Chester, the current church of St Nicholas in the centre of the village was consecrated in 1855.
