Not far off the M40, a few miles south-east of High Wycombe, in Buckinghamshire, lies the leafy village of Wooburn Green, on part of the flood plain for the River Thames. It is in the valley of the River Wye and this feature led to the water mills and paper-making becoming a very important industry here. The last paper mill, Glory Mill, closed in recent years. Wooburn Green offers quite a choice of pubs and bars, including the Queen & Albert (pub on the Green), the Chequers Inn, the Glory Mill and the Falcon (all with real ales and the last 2 also serve food), amongst various other establishments.
