Wingfield is a quiet rural village positioned in the northern edge of the county of Suffolk, and is home to just over three hundred people. It has an intriguing history, and dates far back in time to the Saxon settlers who first arrived here. It became important when the Earl of Suffolk received permission to change his manor house into a fortified castle which once housed a portcullis and drawbridge in the 14th Century. Nearby will find the stunning church which was built on the site of an earlier church in 1362, visitors who stroll around the quiet lanes may just hear the peel of the six bells.
