Wing is a small village in rural Rutland, situated a little to the south of Rutland Water. This charming village has 17th century houses built from stone quarried at nearby Barnack and Clipsham. A number of the houses feature roofs covered with stone slates from nearby Collyweston. The name of the village probably stems from the Old Norse word 'vengi' or field. The church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul had the spire removed during an extensive rebuild in 1875. There are still some remaining Norman parts of the building, including the south arcade from the mid 12th century and the slightly later north arcade and north doorway.
