The village of Winchfield in Hampshire lies between the River Whitewater and the River Hart, mentioned in the Domesday Book and with its Norman Church, built circa the 12th century. The village has had an important part to play in the history of the south for it was here in the19th century that the railways first arrived and from here all the mail for the south was brought from London and then sent on for distribution by mail coach. Today, because of the railway access to London or Basingstoke is relatively easy making this a convenient location for those residents who have to travel.
