West Mersea is a riverside town perfectly placed on the Island of Mersea which sits off the coast of Essex in Eastern England. Its location between the Blackwater River and the Coln Estuary led it to being chosen by the Romans for its strategic position in centuries past; today the town has grown to nearly seven thousand people.
