Tomintoul is a village situated in the Highlands, located centrally in the Cairngorms National Park, in north-east Scotland. Tomintoul is one of the highest villages in the Highlands, at 1160ft, with picturesque scenery and the nearby Ailnack Gorge, Scotland’s largest glacial melt-water gorge. Tomintoul is located on the Crown Estate of Glenlivet and was founded by the 4th Duke of Gordon c1750. There is a small museum in the square with interesting information on the history of the village and surrounding area.
