Tomatin is a small rural village nestled in Strathdearn along with the hamlets of Moy and Dalarossie in the Highlands of Scotland. Strathdearn is a 22 mile long river valley formed by a glacier and the Monadhliath Mountains, with the Slochd Summit to the south and the River Findhorn though the centre. Tomatin is situated 15 miles south of Inverness and a few miles from the shores of Loch Ness. Tomatin from Gaelic means ‘Hill of the Juniper’ it is the main village in the Strath and has been famous for its malt whiskey production since the 16th century, although not officially established until1897.
