Templepatrick is a village located mid-way between Antrim and Ballyclare, close to the M2 motorway and Belfast International Airport. The village is dominated by the historic Castle Upton, whose demesne wall stands along one side of the main street. A striking gateway gives access to the castle, a tower house built in 1611 and later extended by the Templeton family, who owned Templepatrick. Some improvements were made to the castle by the great Georgian architect Robert Adam, including the stables and the family mausoleum, which is now a National Trust property.
