Strathdon is a village situated in a fertile valley in the Cairngorms Mountains, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and located 45 miles west of Aberdeen. Strathdon lies near the River Don as it winds through miles of farmland on route eventually flowing into the North Sea via Aberdeen. A famous resident of the village is the Scottish Comedian, Billy Connolly. The settlement here was once known as Invernochty, named after the original church, located where the River Don meets the Nochty waters. Strathdon is a beautiful area with wild dramatic scenery; it is very isolated with the barren moorland and mountain backdrop heading towards the Highlands.
