Stadhampton is a village and civil parish near Wallingford, in South Oxfordshire. The parish sits about 9 miles from Oxford. It includes the four villages of Stadhampton, Chiselhampton, Brookhampton, and Ascott. Originally called 'Stadham' the village grew from an agricultural community. The addition of the 'ton' to the village name is thought to be influenced by the nearby villages of Chiselhampton and Brookhampton. The parish church of St John the Baptist dates back to the 13th century. Three pub-restaurants are located in the parish, The Crown dating from 1720, on the main A329 road, The Crazy Bear Hotel in Bear Lane, and The Coach & Horses Inn on the River Thame at Chiselhampton.
