St Clears is a small historically interesting town in the middle of an agricultural district in Carmarthenshire. It boasts an ornate bridge over the river Taf and, like many places in Wales, has the ruins of a motte and bailey Norman castle to explore. In the C12th a small settlement formed around the castle– now St Clears has a population of about 3000 including the, mostly Welsh speaking, residents of nearby villages Pwll Trap, Backe and Banc – y- Felin. St Clears prides itself on strong community feeling and generous hospitality.
