Slaidburn is an unspoilt village positioned in the picturesque Ribble Valley, in the County of Lancashire, and is home to over two hundred and eighty people. It dates back many centuries, a legacy of which remains with the Bronze Age Burial site found behind the 15th Century church, which is dedicated to St Andrew. Agriculture played an important role and a corn mill was built in Medieval times although it was restored in 1912. The 18th Century saw an increase in the previously declining population with the coming of the Weavers; rows of sandstone, and limestone houses, and cottages were built for the agricultural workers and weavers many of which remain today.
