The settlement of Shottle lies to the north of Belper on the edge of the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire amidst rolling countryside. Travel a little further along Lambhouse Lane and this will take you towards Shottle Hall that was built in the mid 19th century whilst a little further along Lambhouse Lane and you will find the village of Shottlegate. Shottlegate lies to the south of Shottle and is so called as it takes the name Shottlegate from the fact that at one time there was a gate here to Shottle Park which at the time of the Domesday Book was one of several parks in the area, at that time owned by Ferrars family.
