Saltash was founded in the 12th Century and is either the first or the last town in Cornwall, the town is linked to Plymouth by the stunning Royal Albert Bridge constructed by Brunel. A good place to start is ’The Town Tour’ which journeys through the town showing the historical wonders on offer. How about an unspoilt Medieval house, well Cotehele House has no electricity, a collection of textiles, furniture and unusually armour on offer, all set in pretty riverside gardens, or Mount Edgcumbe House built in 1547 with red Tudor bricks and has paintings, tapestries and 18th Century porcelain, step outside and enjoy the stunning garden, with a 400 year old Lime.
