Romford is a large suburban town in East London, and the principal town of the London Borough of Havering. Romford has been a market town since 1247, and it holds the exclusive right to hold markets over an area of "six and two thirds miles" centred on Romford, settled in mediæval times when King Henry III granted the town a Market Charter for livestock. Today the market continues to thrive and is considered to be one of the largest and best street markets in the South East. Romford Market is open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, offering 300 stalls on over 600 pitches.
