Radstock is a town in north east Somerset. It lies to the north of the Mendip Hills and eight miles south west of the historic city of Bath. It was twinned with the town Midsomer Norton in 1933 and formed the small conurbation of Norton Radstock. The wellow brook and Fosseway Roman road both run through the town of Radstock, whilst the River Somer runs through Midsomer Norton. Coal was discovered at Radstock in 1763 and mining began as part of the Somerset Coalfield. The town grew in importance and was the terminus for the Somerset Coal Canal, later turned into a tramway.
