Plungar is a small rural village in Leicestershire. Due to its proximity to the border of Nottinghamshire and the variability of county borders, it is often mistakenly thought of as being a Nottinghamshire village. It lies in a triangle between Nottingham, Grantham and Melton Mowbray, about three miles south of the A52. It is part of Barkestone, Plungar and Redmile parish council, the three villages having an adult population of only 650 between them. Situated within the Melton District of Leicestershire, Plungar is situated in the picturesque Vale of Belvoir.
