The village of Parbold is in Lancashire in the valley of the River Douglas and with the Leeds Liverpool canal passing close to the town centre. It has in recent years proved popular with those commuters who appreciate the rural aspect of this large village as it is around three miles to the M6 which in turn offers easy access to the major North West economic centres of Liverpool, Manchester and Preston with easy access to the M6 making it a popular location for the commuter. Dominating the area is Parbold Hill where a little below its summit is a monument that was originally erected to commemorate the Reform Bill of 1832 and it is unusual as it is somewhat bottle shaped, known locally as Parbold Bottle.
