OldMeldrum is a small town in the Grampian Highlands, Aberdeenshire, near to Inverurie, close to the main road from Aberdeen to Banff, in north-east Scotland. OldMeldrum was created a burgh in 1672. Durring Christmas in 1307 the earl of Buchan’s army were housed in Old Meldrum, prior to their defeat at the hand of Robert the Bruce on Barra Hill, which overlooks the town standing 634 ft high. OldMeldrum has had a settlement in the area since prehistoric times and an Iron Age hill fort once stood on Barra Hill.
