Norton-Sub-Hamdon is a small rural village placed at the foot of the historic Ham Hill in the County of Somerset, and is home to just over seven hundred people. There are attractive thatched cottages which date as far back as the 17th Century, and several honey coloured Ham Stone cottages which line the roads. A short stroll will uncover the delightful church dedicated to St Mary The Virgin which has an impressive 14th Century tower which graces the skyline, and unusual Pigeon House deserted by birds in 1894 when the church was struck by lightning, and a fabulous gem coloured stained glass window, The village dates back in time to the Saxon's, and from a small agricultural settlement growing flax for twine and sailcloth it grew, although when the quarrying of the local Ham Stone thrived men from the village worked on Ham Hill.
