Northiam is an historic village positioned in the valley of the Rother River, in the County of East Sussex, and is home to just over two thousand people. It's an attractive village, complete with a Village Green that's steeped in history. An ancient Oak tree proudly stands where Queen Elizabeth I once sat whilst enjoying a picnic, when she was journeying to Rye in 1573. It is said that she was so pleased that she left behind a pair of green damask slippers which are still treasured by the village today.
