Morar is a small village on the west-coast in the Highlands of Scotland, situated on the ‘Road to the Isles’ between Fort William and Mallaig. Morar lies near the west-end of the famous Loch Morar, the deepest freshwater Loch in Europe, stretching 12 miles long, one mile wide and approximately 1000ft deep, it is said to be inhabited by ‘Morag’ a water-kelpie similar to the Loch Ness monster. Morar is well-known for its beautiful ‘Silver Sands’ beaches, used as a location for the film ‘Local Hero’.
