Malpas is a small and quaint village in South East Cheshire, off the beaten track. It is an attractive village benefitting from a number of half timbered ancient buildings. Set on the hill overlooking the main street is the parish church, St Oswald’s, a Grade I Listed building dating back to the 14th century. The road runs alongside the churchyard and sometimes late a night many a motorist has seen the ghostly shape of a person crossing the road only to look more closely and see no-one there! Malpas is probably most famous locally as a producer of cheese and since 1886 Cheshire Cheese, amongst others, has been made here.
