On the north side of the Firth of Forth is the resort village of Lower Largo or Seatoun of Largo. It is situated at the foot of a cliff on Largo Bay in the East Neuk of Fife. Originally a single street running from the harbour at the mouth of the Keil burn, Lower Largo was created as a village for fishermen, however, with its fine sandy beach it became popular for holidaymakers. Lower Largo is known as the birth place of Alexander Selkirk, born 1676. A mariner marooned by his captain after disagreement.
