Eleven miles north west of Morpeth and five miles sout east of Rothbury, in Northumberland in England’s north east, lies the village of Longframlington. The Eslington family originally held the manor but during the reign of Henry VIII the estate was sold off in lots as there were no further heirs. By the middle of the nineteenth century, it had become the property of the Duke of Northumberland and a number of other freeholders. The church of St Mary the Virgin was built around 1190 by Walter de Framlington.
