The small village of Llanrhystud is 11 miles north-east of Newquay on the A487. Llanrhystud is of particular interest archaeologists visiting the two former hill forts: Castell Bach and Castell Mawr. These sites which lie near the confluence of the rivers Wyre and Carrog are separated by a valley - site of a bloody ancient battle and hence known as known as “the dell of slaughter†For those who want to explore Welsh history further, ruined Caer Penrhos a C12th castle also lies close by.
