Llangollen lies in the Dee Valley in North Wales and is a town that offers more than beautiful scenery and plenty to do. Llangollen is steeped in history and is home to the International Musical Eisteddfod – they say it is where the world comes to Wales and Wales welcome the world! The history of the town goes back to the Iron Age and Dinas Bran Castle through the Dark Ages and the legend of King Arthur – close to the canal towpath is the remains of a stone cross and the earliest recorded name for this cross is Croes Gwenhwyfar and Gwenhwyfar is the original Welsh name of Gueinevere, wife of King Arthur.
