Llangefni lies close to the centre of the Island of Anglesey and has always been a busy market town, back in the mid 17th century Llangefni was an important location as it was a staging post for the port of Holyhead – the first postmaster at Llangefni being appointed in 1636. Because of its rural location it is easy to see why it developed as a market town and records show that cottage industries were established , carpenters, blacksmiths wheelwrights and even a brass foundry all conducted their business in and around Llangefni.
