Larkhall is a town in South Lanarkshire in Scotland situated beside the Avon Waters, 4 miles south-east of Hamilton and 18 miles south-east of Glasgow. Originally known as Laverockhall, this traditional industrial town was well-known for its mining, textile and weaving industries during the late 17th century. The politician Keir Hardie was born in Larkhall, he went on to become the countries first socialist MP in 1892. Located at the edge of the scenic National Nature Reserve of the Clyde Valley, Larkhall is a popular tourist destination and an ideal base for visiting the South Lanarkshire attractions with road, regular bus and train links to Glasgow, Hamilton, Motherwell and Lanark.
