Kyle of Lochalsh is a village on the north-west coast in the Highlands of Scotland, situated near the village of Plockton. One mile to the west is the Skye Bridge which links the Isle to mainland Scotland. In 1819 the new road from Inverness arrived with the Highland railway following in 1897, Kyle of Lochalsh became the main ferry terminus for travelling to Skye. The ferries were de-commissioned in 1995 when the Skye Bridge opened. Kyle of Lochalsh is by the Balmacara Estate and Lochalsh Woodland Garden, a nature reserve and highland crofting estate.
