Kippford is a historical village in Dumfries and Galloway on the Solway coast in Southern Scotland, situated 4 miles south of Dalbeattie on the shore of the Urr Estuary. The busy village originally known as Scaur developed its harbour by the late 1700s and was an important port in the 1800’s with thriving quarrying, ship-building and fishing industries. In 1870 the post-office was built and named Kippford, the village adopted the same name. Kippford stretches between the wooded Mark Hill and the sea and is surrounded by picturesque views and scenic beaches.
