Innerleithen is a town in the Borders region of Scotland situated between Peebles and Galashiels on the north bank of the River Tweed. The town was well-known as a thriving tweed-milling community from the 1700. During the 19th century the Victorians regarded Innerleithen as a spa town with the sulphurous springs of St Ronan’s well reputed to have healing powers. Famous visitors to the town include Robert Burns in 1787 and Sir Walter Scott who wrote the novel St. Ronan’s Well in 1823.
